"The Time Has Come”
The Empire Hideous
Featuring Myke Hideous
Myke Hideous is a musical veteran from New Jersey, who has been making music for the last 20 plus years. Myke is mostly known for his work as lead vocalist and founding efforts with gothic rock band The Empire Hideous. He is also accredited for his brief and controversial time as lead vocalist for the world famous punk band: The Misfits, in 1998. After parting ways with that band he immediately created a new line up of musicians for a punk-rock-a-billy band he called SpySociety99 (SS99). At the same time he was writing his own autobiography novel entitled: King Of An Empire To The Shoes Of A Misfit, which was later released in 2002, through Authorhouse Publishing. He also found time to record vocals on three albums (over the course of 5 years) for The Bronx Casket Co., (a side project from DD Verni of Overkill). In the same year Myke unveiled a new line-up of musicians for the new millennium version of The Empire Hideous. Needless to say, those were busy times.
Its been almost 10 years since The Empire Hideous released new material, but the time has come for a new, full-length LP. Myke began production on this album in 2006, with guitarist Johnny Nickel. (Johnny is now the last guitarist and only other member of The Empire Hideous.) Together they recorded all the instruments they played on, programmed, produced, mixed and mastered the entire album themselves.
“I think it’s the best Empire Hideous album I’ve ever produced,” says Myke about The Time Has Come. The CD opens with “Dance Dead Rhythms” which puts the listener in a head-bobbing, foot tapping mode, with it’s upbeat tempo and catchy guitar riff. By track two, “Pretty Faces” the listener is reminded they’re listening to an Empire Hideous album. The track, dark and brooding with crushing guitars relentlessly identifying the bands signature sound. But it doesn’t stop there. Next is “Serpents Trance” which sets the mood for the rest of the album. Sinister, disturbing, poignant and heartrending. Grab the Zanex and razorblades, cause the message is all downhill from here goth kiddies!
Myke’s song writing for this album is by far his darkest and best yet. By the third track you’re lead on a musical journey of apocalyptic imagery, psychological heartbreak, the world of the supernatural and a world in peril.
The Time Has Come is a landmark of today’s world. Tracks like “Stand Off”, “Staring At The Walls”, “Alone”, and the title track “The Time Has Come” deliver a power punch of emotion, both musically and lyrically. If you’re already a fan of Myke’s music or the Empire Hideous, you will not be disappointed. If you’ve never heard Empire Hideous and are a fan of dark, gothic rock, then make room on your shelf for this CD. This is by far, The Empire Hideous at it’s best!
The Time Has Come is beautifully designed and presented in a digipak CD gatefold, which includes 4 panels (front & back) with lyrics, photographs of Myke’s own artwork and cover shots of Myke by long time friend, and legendary Philadelphian photographer Kyle Cassidy.
Currently this CD is being distributed independently through EmpireHideous.com and MykeHideous.com, exclusively.
