Our story begins with a band called bender13, in 1999 this band played shows with Jimmy Eat World and The Used and was based out of Provo Utah. After a traumatic breakup the lead singer (Who wasn't that good) and songwriter (great songwriter) had his heart broken and decided to grow up and get a real job. 10 years later, he found himself with this huge unfulfilled desire and music pounding out of his brain. He decided that if he wanted a chance, a real chance of letting his music live, he'd need to get the best talent he could find, so he hosted an open mic and made it a competition and got celebrity judges like Brandon from the Neon trees, old singers in the band Kansas and combed the area for a voice worth listening too. Enter Taylor Woodward, kid had talent and pipes of gold, so they joined forces plying the trades of crazy good homeschooled drummer Nathan Standage who spent all of his angst hitting drums, and Arizona’s scene savant Michael Bentz on bass, with three young guys and one veteran they formed a team and started playing out, perfecting their style, perfecting their songs, until this first album is now ready. It's called pocket aces because we think we've got the best hand you can have before you let lady luck interfere, so we are going to go big, or go down hard.
