Future, born Thomas J. Scott II, was born in Wiesbaden, Germany to his proud parents Thomas & Sandra Scott. As a child, and throughout his teenage years, Future was an active part of ministry and demonstrated a passion for music and became one of the churches leading youth singers. As a teen, he further developed as he began writing songs that we now know were downloaded to him under the anointed power of the Holy Ghost. This was largely because of encouragement from his parents who believed the Bible when it said, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15.
Upon graduating high school, Future set his sights on Los Angeles, CA and moved there in hopes of starting a career in rapping. He was able to lay down a few tracks in the studio but nothing really materialized. After struggling to just stay alive, he soon fell victim to the streets of LA and began living by any means necessary. Future returned to Houston but was forever changed by the experiences of his chosen way of life. During this period Future often spoke of life being about choices but would continually make negative choices for himself, even though it was evident even to him that there was a greater dimension call on his life.
In early 2008 tragedy struck the Scott household and everyone was affected. It was then the Lord began to deal with him in such a miraculous way. He began to dream and see visions of himself experiencing a very violent death. After coming to grips with his chosen path and the possible end results he decided he needed to change. It was late one night in December while listening to Crystal Aikin’s newly released CD and watching Christian television that he made a total commitment to God in every area of his life. Future made such a dramatic turnaround, but he remains true to the tenacity in which he conducts himself while handling the challenges of life. It has been said that your misery often times becomes your ministry.
Future spent the next year developing a personal relationship with God through prayer, fasting and the studying of God’s word. It was then that the passion of his youth re-emerged and he once again discovered his love for music but this time in its purest form, from the heart of God through the test of time to the soul of man. Now, Future can be found daily perfecting his craft through the study of God’s word or writing lyrics as the spirit gives utterance.
An up and coming successful motivational speaker, you will find him wherever life takes him sharing with those in the valley of decision that the mistakes of your past do not dictate your future; however the choices you make today do. His message is that we all have the ability to prophesy over our lives and speak those things that are pleasing in the eyes of God. He now realizes, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Isaiah 18:21
Family is most important to Future. He has one brother Anthony L. Scott (Kyran L. Singleton-Scott) one nephew Christian Ty and one niece Kennidi Rian Scott.
