I started out as a bassist at the young age of 13, playing around the local circuits in the Memphis TN area. Yeah, too young for such, but I managed to get away with it as I looked older than my actual age.
Many years and many, many bands later, I realized that the club scene just wasn't panning out. So I got a drum machine and a Stratocaster and went to work writing and recording my own songs.
My first semi solo recording project involved doing 2 songs with Lavonne McRoberts of Peace,Love and Stuff. She wrote the songs and did the vocals, and I did all the instrumentation. (See "Oktober Falls" and "Hold On"). These were done on a 4-track cassette (yes, how quaint is right).
Note: All songs titled "Stan, Chuck and Evan" are songs that I recorded 22 years ago with a couple of fine musicians from the Memphis area. I was on bass, Chuck Covey was on drums, and Evan Leake was on guitars and vocals. Thanks Chuck and Evan.
I'm currently working on a solo project that should be completed by the end of 2012--provided those Mayans were wrong about their calender...
