2010 was the year...the year 4 talented local musicians collaborated their skills and from that well planned meeting emerged "BIG BLUE DUMP TRUCK"...each member as unique as the name itself. Since the formation of BBDT, the band has experienced great successes and sustained a positive rapport while going through major transitions in their member line-up. However, that has not stopped the new BBDT crew from "picking up where they left off," press forward and blast out tunes with a Blues Rock feel. After one practice, the mesh of virtuosity between them quickly identified the path that BBDT would now take on and Big, Danny, Matt and Nick welcomed the change.
Big Daddy, lead vocals/percussion, had been slayin' out metal and classic rock tunes for Backhand for 4 years when he had an epiphany to bring to fruition his desire to get a band started focusing on the blues. Determined to maintain the BBDT legacy that he started, original member Big Daddy approached Danny Thompson (BBDT member since the Summer of 2012) about moving from percussion to lead guitar. An expert authority in both areas, Danny accepted the challenge and has consistently blown away audiences with his innate tenacity and ambitious nature. As fate would have it, Matthew Burek, recently returning to the states from his military deployment in Afghanistan, would join Big and Danny as the bass guitar guru, while Nick Eubanks, the original drummer of BBDT, in deciding to leave Arizona and come back to E-town, completed the 4 man band. Fueling Oklahoma stages with their combined energy, execution and dynamic performance, BBDT remains in the forefront in their genre and in stage presence.
"BIG DADDY," lead vocals, acquired his musical talents from his parents who were both professional musicians. His vocal influences include Paul Rogers and Michael McDonald while musically, the vast array of artists range anywhere from Led Zepplin and Jimi Hendrix to Earth, Wind and Fire and Rick James. Born and raised in Denver, CO, Big moved to Enid, OK in 2006. Playing drums since he was 6 yrs old, Big eventually adopted the microphone in 2000 and has continued to belt out tunes with his "deep bluesy tone". He has performed and impressed venues from coast to coast with his explosive stage expositions and unique style.
Playing since he was 6 years old, DANNY THOMPSON achieved his extensive musical aptitude not only with percussion, but he has mastered his art with the lead and bass guitar as well. In the wake of the line-up change, Danny stepped up to the plate and made a smooth conversion from percussion to lead guitar and amazes crowds with his copious skills. Danny's motivation stems from great icons such as John Bonham, Ringo Starr and Dave Weckl which are certainly evident through his stellar precision and his untouchable, raw ability to shred that guitar.
Whether you know him as, "U.S. Bear...Matty Ice...or Stache," after watching MATTHEW BUREK work the stage, you will be the witness of exemplary savoir-faire and finesse charging the atmosphere with his showmanship. From Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Matt began playing the trombone, but eventually migrated to the guitar. "Cutting his teeth" in the smokey rooms of his hometown, Matt was saturated with rare, phenomenal instruction on technique and wisdom from which his persona bore. He credits noted performers Victor Wooten, Tom Petersson, Flea and Rick Nielsen for contributing to his craft.
NICK EUBANKS, an original BBDT member, made a power house return after a year break. Quite dexterous at the age of 13, Nick began playing the drums in the black hills of South Dakota, developing his forte to include originals he created with his first band, Flamin' Eddy, comparative to the alternative sounds of 311. Embracing musical diversity playing with BBDT, Nick commands attention with his flair and unyielding beats, enlightened by the "goods" of Led Zepplin, Chili Peppers, Primus and Rush...hence, coining the name, "Sick Nick."
Even with the hectic schedules and daily demands that these guys endure, they have no intentions on slowing down! The BBDT crew is currently concentrating on expanding their music library and hitting the studio to finalize their CD release with exclusive originals. They are totally committed to providing and creating music that "moves your body and soul"...BBDT is shiftin' gears and takin' care of business!!
