Brent Joseph [B-Jay] Ward ★ — Better known by his stage name Koo-Laid (often stylized as Køø-Laid ™, K-Laid or K→LaiD) & by It's created synonym "Mr. SugáWater", Is an American Rapper, Hip Hop|Recording Artist, Songwriter/Lyricist, Stage Performer, Record Producer & Accredited Freestyle Battle Champion. While originally from From Franklin, LA,, The Southern Born Emcee moved with his family to Kansas @ the age of three. It was then shortly thereafter when Koo-Laid quickly found himself captivated by the era of Golden Age Hip Hop, it's Culture & Icons. Strongly Influenced by such Hip Hop greats as Spice 1, KRS-ONE, Eazy-E, Rakim, Scarface, & Slick Rick • Koo-Laid began to write, record & would then perform his own music starting @ a very young age (dating as far back as early elementary- Kindergarten/ First grade). While the young emcee maintained a healthy respect for the art form, Koo-Laid quickly advanced from making his school yard tapes & went on to release his 1st solo project "Self Titled " @ the age of 13. Popular throughout Southeast Kansas & Southwest Missouri, The young artist developed an immediate fan base which rapidly grew expanding from the streets of Wichita, making it's way into Joplin & was heard playing in the clubs of St. Louis MO. Køø-Laid was then offered to feature on a DVD/ Documentary entitled " Ghetto" Produced by Focal Point Records in Wichita, KS. As Koo-Laid continued to write & record his music locally, he went on to form his own group - The Joplin, MO, based Hip Hop Duo "Midwest Connect" ~ partnering with St. Louis Artist Rapper "Neno Blakc" - The duo quickly gained noteriety as a National Act while sharing the stage Atlanta's #1 Trap Music Group "D4L" (Down 4 Life) who at the time held the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 with their hit single "Laffy Taffy". Following this, Midwest Connect was approched by Outreach Entertainment CEO ( St. Louis) who requested that they tour & open for the now Multi-Platinum selling Artist "T-Pain" - who founded Nappy Boy Entertainment. - Koo-Laid has however since returned to a solo career. As one of the Midwest's most respected U.G. Lyricists—The unsigned Icon from Kansas met & teamed up with one of the areas local Hip Hop Promoters "Rob Stout" on a 2010 7 Song EP Release entitled "Nightmares". A fly by night project, the Nightmares Single was also used to film Koo-Laid's 1st Debut Music Video Promo by Josh Hernandez of Imprimis Media. A second Music Video Promo "Major Boi" was then also filmed by Hernandez.
