Iron Outlaw / Bio

Kelly Winfield (Edgel): Kelly started his love of music at the age of 8 singing in church choirs, then later in high school and college. He received formal voice training in college and performed in an internationally broadcast program. Kelly is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. Inspired by his father's harmonica playing, he took up the "harp" in his teens and perfected his technique on lonely road sides hitch-hiking around the South. His first guitar was a used Teisco Del-ray Strat copy he bought for $15 when he was 16. He finally managed to get a real Stratocaster after a guy in a Lincoln with lots of insurance crunched his primer brown 1965 VW micro-bus. Kelly continues to expand his horizons by taking up mandolin and dobro. Kelly has been playing around SW FL for the past 15 years, the last 3 with Iron Outlaw.

Gil Lewis: Gil hails from Roanoke, VA, but has been a transplanted "Cracker" since 1987. As an accomplished musician of nearly 40 years, he's shared his expertise with students as an guitar instructor for 6 years. His years of study in jazz and music theory also show in his polished guitar licks and flowing arpeggios. Gil is a versatile guitarist comfortable in many genres of music. A veteran of the local music scene, he's played in numerous local bands including, Alyce Grouper, Southbound and Pickett's Fence.

Karl August: Karl started learning drums at age 8 and was performing 2 years later. A native of the mid-west, Karl moved to Ft. Myers at 13 and has been performing locally for many years. He's played in well know local bands (Buckingham Blues Band, Danny Shepherd Band--to name a couple), opened for Aaron Nevil as well as jammed with Cliff Williams (AC/DC), Soozie Tyrell (E-St. Band), Alvin Lee (10 Yrs. After), and Felix Cavaleri (Rascals). Having played drums for 50 years, Karl is one of the best and most seasoned drummers in SW FL.

Gary Eisinger: Although Gary was 2nd chair drummer in his high school band, he wouldn't consider playing anything else now. As, he says, "the bass is the most important instrument in the band!" Inspired by his older brother's bass playing, Gary took up bass at age 10 and was playing gigs within 2 years on a bass that was bigger than he was! Gary has played in worship bands locally for over 10 years and has opened for popular Christian music recording artist Matthew West. He's also done the bar-band circuit for many years, but now plays mostly for fun. Gary finds doing double-duty playing in both his church's worship band and Iron Outlaw the perfect combination to feed his "bass Jones".
