The Tall Story:
TallBoys was formed in the Spring of 2012 when the McGravey brothers met Jon in their school jazz ensemble at UMass Lowell. Jon had also previously been in the cover band "Throwback" with his friend Jared Ghioto (Drummer/Lead vocals). Jon got everyone together for a jam session at UMass Lowell after Jared told him he was looking to put together an 80's tribute band for a battle of the bands at Framingham State, where Jared was attending college. Following the breakup of Randy and Brian's band Sobra Kobra. they were more than willing to start a new project with Jon and Jared, especially after a compelling chemistry was created from that first jam session in March of 2012.
The name TallBoys was coined one day before an ensemble rehearsal when the boys opened up a 6 pack of tall beers. Once they heard Andrew Baptista refer to them as "tallboys" they thought that it would be a funny name for the group. Thus TallBoys were born. The band has played countless venues in the New England area and continues to play a wide range of originals and covers.
