Prolific (William Rideout) has been a music personality and performer for the past 10 years. Hailing from Lennoxville, Quebec, Prolific has steadily risen from a small town trendsetter to a recognized figure in the Canadian rap world. At heart both a writer and performer, Prolific combines his talent in both arts through the use of hip hop music. Along his path he has masterfully developed his craft, but perhaps more importantly, the non-stop ride since he embraced music has led him down the road less travelled.
Prolific began his career as a freestyle battle MC. At the age of 19 he used the little money he had to travel (Greyhound) across North America to throw down with North America's top MCs. Over the years he took a number of Canada's major battle titles including Montreal's LIHQ, Ottawa's Last Man Standing, and Toronto's Proud to be Eh Battle Emcee He also placed among the top competitors in the world battle summit Scribble Jam in both 2005 and 2006. Known for his alternative image and stream-of-consciousness freestyle skills, he was a fan favourite.
In his years on the scene Prolific has released two commercial records. In 2007 he released the full-length studio album 'Think' out of Montreal: a record that has since become an underground cult classic. The dark sample-based production complemented with Prolific's reflective lyrics resonated with listeners worldwide. For his second record, he joined forces with Toronto band Team ! Badguy and put out the 3-song demo 'Dive'. 'Dive' casts Prolific's style onto a more commercial sound while still maintaining the lyrical edge that sets him apart from the average MC.
Aside from these releases are countless collaborations alongside Canada's top underground MCs. Now based out of Toronto, Prolific is currently in the studio full-time at Euphonic Sound working on his sophomore album release entitled 'Amor Fati'. The enigmatic latin title translates into English as, 'Love Your Fate”. This phrase captures the attitude of embracing our circumstances in the face of trial and adversity. In many respects Amor Fati continues where 'Think' left off, it is thought provoking album. However, the effort is a culmination of. Continually pushing his limits as an MC, he has also taken the reigns as producer of the upcoming record. It is slated for release in early 2012.
Along with his solo work Prolific is pushing a project alongside dubstep producer Vlad Romanov under the title, AdRenaChrome. Furthermore he has recently taken a position as head organizer of the hip hop non-profit United in Flow.
