As street musicians, playing for money to survive David "Fingers" McKibben and Freddy "Sunshine" Crowder traveled many miles,to many states, starting out by hooking up with the Grateful Deads Spring 1987 tour of the eastern USA. After several months, hitch hiking their way to California, they made their way back though Indiana, where they were joined by the younger McKibben brother,Ron...and the band that would become known as "Fingers and Sunshine" was born. They would become a well known fixture in front of the BlueBird nightclub in Bloomington, entertaining large crowds til sunup on the street, and would travel the highways and bi-ways of the country to places as far as Key West and New Orleans, honing their musical style, and entertaining folks of all ages where ever they went.
After a few years of traveling and busking, they would perfect their style of "Psychedelic Folk",or "Folk-n-Roll",and take the music of their heart, and of the heartland "off the street".
The members would go on to create other projects, but these "studio live" recordings would catalogue their unique sound of the six voices-the three guitars and these three gentlemens voices, and preserve them for time eternal.
This collection of songs is truely "From the Street",the guitars and voices recorded "live",at HomeGrown Studios in Bloomington, while the three sat in chairs, around a microphone. The bass and percussion would be added quite some time later, but the initial guitars and vocals truely capture the live sound of the three, filled with all the emotion that they truely felt for their music, and for each other.
Though they would go on to other projects such as "LongShadow","Tribe",and "The Unknown",their initial spark, and love for the music, and each other, that came from within these three "Brothers",can truely be felt here, and cannot be denied.
