16 Reasons Why was formed originally by guitarist Jeremi Adams and drummer Matt Porter. They had played together for many years, but never played a show. In the summer of 2011, they were asked to play a show for a friends birthday party. At this time, Matt enlisted guitarist Dan Moss and vocalist Jack Gerhard. At the time, Jack was the lead in the school play, and this is when Matt asked Jack to join the group, under the name "Musician X". After the party, they went on hiatus for a little while, until they played their "premiere" show on December 3, 2011 under the current name "16 Reasons Why". Later, Dan would leave the group to pursue other musical activities. This is when bassist Nigel van der Woude joined. This line-up first premiered January 21, 2012. This would be the current line-up. Now, with the line-up secure, they are taking some time to record a Demo and an EP, while also looking for shows to play.
