Matthew A. Felix A.K.A. DJ M.A. REEL was born in Saugus MA. in 1991. He is currently 21 years old, producing and writing music, and is a leading Hip Hop artist in his hometown and the Boston area. DJ began his career as a Worship Leader for five years within his church. Those five years gave Matthew a great knowledge of Music and Music Theory. They paved the way for Matthew to write, produce, and compose his own productions.
Through a friend in his graduating class (Joshua Ezeuzie) Matthew got first hand experience with singing as a Hip-Hop artist. J-Slick (Joshua Ezuzie) had DJ M.A. REEL as background/hook artist for him for a short period of time. The influence that J-Slick had placed upon DJ, he believes, is one of the main reasons he chose Hip-Hop as a career after High School. DJ was focused on being a Disk Jockey for many clubs and events within the North Shore area as well as performing during his gigs. He Attended ITT Technical Institute. But, his love for music drove him to find alternate routs on his educational path. It was in 2012 when Matthew met his friend Delarno Wilson (D.Dot) and his cousin BE U DA DON. After learning that Matthew could sing D.Dot began putting him on some tracks such as "Dear God" and "My Biggest Hater." DJ M.A. REEL was then part of Good Music Movement or G.M.M. The Three artists worked together and produced a mixtape in 2012 called "The Rat Pack" which can still be downloaded for free: http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/gmm-good-music-movement-gmm-the-rat-pack-mixtape.54184.html
Presently DJ M.A. REEL works solo, he plans to attend The New England Institute of Art for Recording Arts, Producing himself, and traveling the world sharing his music with everyone he meets along the way. DJ is currently getting ready to release his new Mixtape "REEL 2 REEL" in September 2013. Stay tuned and follow him on twitter, facebook, reverbnation, and instagram. The links are below.
