The Faps are a punk/rock 'n roll band from the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro-plex, with Mattcoholic on lead guitar Jed Unemployable on rhythm guitar/vocals J-Rod on Drums/vocals and O-Dog on bass they formed in August of 2011. Former members of bands such as Sleezus Fist and the Latter Day Taints (Denton TX- Austin TX), Switch Blade Floozies (Lewisville TX), and Filthy McNasty (Boston Mass.). They formed with the simple idea that making people laugh is better than preaching politics or religion/anti-religion. In the world of 24 hour news networks, government corruption, terrorism, and hate crimes The Faps are more concerned with laughter and entertainment to take the audience away from the brow beating of everyday life as a 21st century American.
They released their first EP 'Touch Your-Self Titled' in September of 2012, a 6 song EP with stirring titles such as 'Attack of the 20 ft Titties' a play off the 1958 cult classic 'Attack of the 50 ft Woman'. 'Beer Barn' about running out of beer at a keg party and having to make a last minute run chanting "Follow me like my name is Moses, we gotta get to the Beer Barn before it closes." The Beer Barn happens to be a fixture in several of the band members home town of Denton, TX. Also 'Put 'Em Up' which is intended to be an old school mosh anthem in the vein of Black Flag.
They recently released a new LP in August of 2013 'The Faps- Live in Denton TX!!' recorded at the famous Andy's Bar on August 2nd 2013. This album currently available only as a digital download has several more tracks such as 'Better Than You' an anti-love ballad in which the subject tells his girlfriend he's been cheating on her and "Baby she's better than you!" 'Rub-1-Out' is an ode to the old 1-900 sex hotlines that fell out of fashion with the rise of the internet. It even includes a climactic cover of the Regan Youth song "Degenerated".
With lots of live dates on the schedule, The Faps are a fun and jubilant show with their own brand of off color comedy and self deprecating humor rolled up into a pretty rockin' punk band.
