Katie Nicole Dix was born in Bakersfield, California. Her desire for being on the stage began early on. She is best known in her hometown playing the title roles and lead vocals in numerous musical theater productions, contests and exhibitions. At age 7, she entered an Hawaiian Tropic contest and won 3 categories, one of which was vocal performance. At that moment she knew being on stage was comfortable and gratifying. Her childhood hobby of acting and singing laid the groundwork for her to become a successful performer today.
During her school years, she enjoyed the spotlight in all of her endeavors. In addition to participating in local theater productions, she was a cheerleader, held 3 ASB class offices, was a competitive swimmer, member of elite choirs, FFA club, and a lifeguard at a recreational facility. In her senior year, Katie was the recipient of the Thelma Ray Self Music Scholarship, a Spotlight Performance Award, and an award for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance”; (Bakersfield’s equivalent of a CMA). After high school, Katie studied American Sign Language and Psychology in college before going to work for a local school district as a Sign Language Technician.
In 2005, legendary country artist Buck Owens, learned of her talent and began to showcase her regularly on his Crystal Palace stage and radio. This paved the way for her to be seen and heard on a larger scale. Prophetically, he announced to his audience one evening, “This is Katie Dix and you’re ‘gonna hear a lot more of her.” Buck’s mentoring, influence, and encouragement inspired Katie to strive for a full-time career in the entertainment field. After Buck’s passing, Katie moved to Las Vegas where she worked different jobs while continuing to establish herself as a singer. Her playful sex appeal, wit, and charm undoubtedly helped her capture the attention of employers, casting agents, and producers alike. She was quickly chosen to front a country band known as The Moronix, and soon after was recruited by Envy, a premier top 40’s dance band in Vegas, which has played several casinos on and off the Las Vegas Strip and corporate functions In addition to singing with her band, Katie has performed in the show Fantasy at the Luxor as a lead vocalist where he was also able to demonstrate her hosting skills and engage the audience with creative banter. American Superstars at the Stratosphere sought after Katie to join the cast as a tribute artist. It was there that she could exhibit her strong singing, dancing, and acting abilities in the style of Carrie Underwood.
Katie is excited to explore her talents even further by creating original music. Working with engineers like Chris Lord Alge is an artist dream. She is now a resident of Los Angeles, where she is a full time singer at Mastros Restaurants. Keep checking back for new updates!
