Jussiye, born Jesse H., in Rochester, New York was raised by his mother in New York City along with his three siblings. He has one son.
Inspired by artists such as Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings and Jamie Foxx, Jussiye considers himself an "old soul" artist. His musical talents began at the age of 9 when he called the Apollo Theater and booked his own audition for the venue's renowned show "Amateur Night". During the show, he and a friend danced and went on to win two times.
It was also at the age of 9 that Jussiye began attending the multicultural talent agency, AMAS. Founded by Rosetta Lenoire, the
AMAS produces several shows a year. This agency first introduced
Jussiye to production, lighting, microphone and stage setup.
As a singer, self-trained performer and dancer, writer, choreographer
and show producer, the multi-talented artist was initially classically
trained. Jussiye has toured the east coast with Nyack College and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Apollo Theater, Radio City Music Hall and Off-Broadway with the AMAS Musical Theatre.
In college, Jussiye majored in vocal performance and became an expert vocal and harmony arranger. He also starred in his own radio
broadcast which aired 8 hours a week.
Jussiye is very dedicated to his community and has founded a growing non-profit agency called Young Soul Entertainment. In this agency, he promotes the development of youth and the community. His passion for giving youth a platform to turn their dreams into a reality is seen through his effort to continuously give back to the community.
Jussiye is making his way to the top and has recently released
(December 2011) his first album, "Stories of an R&B fiend".
