Nat Bailey was born in Birmingham, England. He received his first guitar at the age of eight. He credits his musical talent to his late father, Clyde Bailey, who had top 40 hits during the 1960’s in the London area. Nat’s gift of music came as no surprise. He moved to New York City at the age of 12 and by 15 he landed his first professional project with The Drifters, on a nationwide tour. It has been a non-stop adventure year after year and band after band and project after project has been the motivation and successful career touring all across the USA, Europe, and Canada.
Nat “Tiger” Bailey had the opportunity to work with many acts such as: Sam & Dave, Colonel Abrams, The Inkspots, The Coasters, Toots and the Maytails and working with Mongo Santa Maria, Duke Ellington Orchestra, Clarke Terry, Omar Hakim, Bill Doggett, JVC Jazz Festival France, Dennis Davis Band, Trudy Lynn, Bo Didley Jr., Ailey Dance Theatre of Harlem, Vishnu Woods: Safari East Cultural Presentations, Jazzmobile, Music Trust Fund, NYC Dept. of Parks & Recreation, He has also done various recording projects with Atlantic Records for Bob Celeste, PMP Records, Westend Records, Arista Records executive--Tony Prendent RCA Records, Brighthouse TV Studios, and CBGBS Records (MTV studios)
Nat Bailey is known for his incredible tone and amazing sound and has often been compared to guitarist Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Prince, Al DiMeola & Gary Moore. Nat is also a creative writer and composer and an active member of the ASCAP organization. His latest CD - smooth jazz format “Blues for Nat” has played in over six different countries, which includes two late long time friends John Moody on Bass (Etta James, Shannon Jackson) & on keyboards Maurice Unthank (Jive Five). His present band ranges from a trio “NAT BAILEY TRIO” to a full 4/6 piece unit “FLEXX”: Nat Bailey on Guitars/Vocals, Carlos Marchena on Keyboards, Joe Washington on keys, Harry Davis on Vocals, Marc Kolodziej on Bass, Mike Gibisico on saxophones, Lorenzo Floyd on Drums and their sound a product of avid musicianship and a incredible-powerful combination of many styles of popular music and cultures of Jazz: Scat, Afro-Latin, Instrumental, Swing, & Smooth, Blues, R&B and Funk.
