San Francisco Bay Area based rock band Spike James and the Names pushes rock forward by getting back to the 4-piece band basics of clean, raw sound merged with a pumping brass section, soulful back-up harmonies, chamber orchestration...and yes…guitar solos! Childhood pals, Spike Lewis and James McDonald, are the tight-knit songwriting duo whose ability to create enduring and timeless songs, as well as captivating live shows, has won over many a-listener, including “The Names”, their revolving list of world-class musicians: Jeff Tamelier, Mic Gillette, George Brooks, Jeff Labes, Sakai Smith, Nikita Germaine, John Mader, Mark Foglia, and TJ Edwards, to name few. The band is soon to release their upcoming, original, self-produced album this summer, 2013, by Grammy Award-winning engineer, Tom Size. In addition, they will be featured in a podcast on thetrackshack.com this April. They were discovered and placed in rotation by 30-year radio veteran, Michael Davis, who commented, “Great song, U guys have a Hot/Tight sound. We are gonna give this song some airplay on 102 KRKC.” Spike James and the Names are currently in negotiations with a world-renowned producer who is planning to record, produce and market their next album and tour.
