The Family Business formed a roots rock group in 2005 with Alec White and Eric Ziegler on guitar, Garrett Wartenweiler on bass, and Derek Hendrickson on drums. In 2008, the band teamed up with harmonica player Ken "Bird Dog" Olufs and keyboardist Jimmy Voegeli to record their first album, "Fedora." Produced by Broadjam founder Roy Elkins, the album earned the group a trip to Austin, Texas's coveted South By Southwest music festival in 2009. For the next two years, The Family Business took their live show to festivals, clubs, bars, and parties all over the Midwest to showcase their high energy live show.
In 2011, the band returned to the studio to record their sophomore release, "Nightmares and Wildest Dreams" with Mike Zirkel at Smart Studios. Once again the band recruited help from its growing circle of friends, retaining Jimmy Voegeli on keyboards and adding percussionist James "Pie" Cowan and guitarist Gary Hendrickson . Since then, the band has been performing across the country while continuing to write and record music that has been described in many contexts - ranging from blues and soul to rock n' roll. Across all genres, this growing family of dedicated musicians has been a reliable source for uplifting entertainment.
