Donny and Danny went shooting in Hot Springs, MT. On the way back they talked surf music over Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' album. When they returned, they realized there was no coast in their state, but mountains to ski and surf down. The Skurfs were born and emboldened by Sammy Hepburn on bass and Van Alexander on drums. Practices, house parties, shows and recordings about the Top Hat Lounge ensued.
The Skurfs' debut 'Mountain Surf' was recorded on MLK jr. Day 2011, with Jim Rogers, Nikko, and two black labrador retrievers at Audio Works Studios in Missoula, MT. Shortly thereafter, Vanny returned to his home planet and Aaron "Trickshot" Johnson (also known as the ViceMachine) filled the void. The Skurfs then toured with Johnny Reno (of A VOLCANO fame) and the ViceMachine.
Almost an entire year after their 2nd West Coast tour in the spring of 2012, the Skurfs tracked their sophomore release 'Ski-Surf.' It is slated to be released by winter 2014.
Sammy Skurf caught a Three Eared Dog, got married and went to China to help form the Eastern Douglas Academy of Rock Arts. So Betty Joy became the 13th Skurf.
