DAJUBILUS LATIN ENSEMBLE
Dajubilus was born in 2008, as an experimental project; Dajubilus is a combined name of two words; the word “Da” a short version of the Spanish word “Dar” meaning to give and the word Jubilus meaning "shout of joy".
Jubilus (plural Jubillii) is also the term for the long melisma; Melisma (plural melismata), in music, is the singing of a single syllable of text while moving between several different notes in succession. Music sung in this style is referred to as melismatic, as opposed to syllabic, where each syllable of text is matched to a single note.
Dajubilus founder and director Carlos Alexis, was born in the Island of Puerto Rico where he grew up listening and playing music among his friends and family. As life went on, he sought musical education and performance experiences in Los Angeles and Miami, where ultimately he found his passion to produce and record music, after being a student of the MDC Commercial Music Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Eduardo “Ed” Calle, a superb Sax Player and Multi Grammys Award Recipient.
The rest is history, in 2011 OllabaraC Record Label, Inc was born, and so was the first Dajubilus Latin Ensemble compact disk “Dancing in The Spirit” was released with unanticipated acceptation. This production was completely recorded in the Island of Puerto Rico, with a number of exceptional local musicians, music composed and arranged by the David Arivett and delightfully performed by the Dajubilus band. Dancing in the Spirit was production honoring the parents of Carlos Alexis, and it encompassed a number of songs from his childhood in the genre of Latin jazz. It combines Caribbean, Gospel, and Brazilian rhythms with a delightful latin flavor.
More recently in August of 2013, Dajubilus releases its second compact disk “No Hay Nada Mejor”, that encompasses Caribbean, R&B, Bossa Nova, Samba rhythms with a soothing and harmonic Latin Jazz flavor that only Dajubilus has.
You are invited to listen and live our exquisite production that would transport you through a relaxing journey full of rhythm and tempo.
