Next Station is a 3-man indie rock band from the Albany, New York music scene that blends beautiful vocals with catchy beats. Brought together by a terrible economy that required an outlet for their frustration, Next Station emerged as a cure for what kept them down. Incorporating funk, rock, and jazz into their sound, Next Station has a unique feel, and is sure to brighten your day.
Will (vocals/guitar) and Matt (bass) originally met during their freshman year in high school. They didn't hang out too much then, yet remained friends through high school and college.
They began playing music together during winter and summer breaks in school. Due to the horrendous job market and economy post-graduation, they were stuck home with their parents much longer than expected. To help quell their depression, they decided to form a band.
While slowly grooming their lyricist and songwriting skills, they soon began producing songs worthy of being played in public. They made their first public appearance at an open-mic night, playing their first decent song, "Going My Way." People thought it was absolutely fantastic, even though Will read the lyrics off a piece of paper.
After writing a bunch more songs, they felt like they had a solid handle on songwriting and a good sized repertoire. It seemed time for the next step. While both enjoyed the acoustic sound of the group, they felt the need to find a drummer to give things a bit more flavor.
After about a year of cycling through many potential candidates that didn't quite fit, a good friend from the local metal scene suggested they check out this guy Mark he knew, who was supposedly a really talented metal drummer. Skeptical due to the clash of genres and the lack of past luck, Will and Matt gave it one last try nonetheless.
Showing up for his first practice/audition, Mark talked too much, yet proved within minutes this was the beginning of a new band. He was learning fast and good at showing up.
With Mark mastering the songs within a matter of weeks, Next Station was primed to roll through the summer of 2010. Playing roughly one million shows over the next three months, the group tightened up quickly.
Lately, Next Station has been keeping a less strenuous schedule due to Will and Matt returning to school. However, they're working hard on new songs and just finished recording a mind-blowing CD.
