As Oceans started as a conjoining of two Raleigh area bands, Six Foot Orchard and Seventh Denial. The founding members; Wes Bryant (Guitar), Logan Lawson (Vocals), Nathan Dickens (Bass), Joey Diehl (Guitar) and Bobby White (Drums) began plotting plans to record a full length album after a couple of months of writing together once their previous endeavors had split up in late 2011. They wanted to offer the world something heavy, aggressive and unforgiving while at the same time containing substance with melodic elements stemming from each musicians Melodeath metal roots. Within the process of creating the album came the conception of As Oceans, a name fitting for the bands limitless heavy sound and deep conceptual lyrics of thought and introspection. These humble beginings brought AO's debut album, Enough Light to Warrant The Contrast which offered songs like "No Reason to Wait", "The Omnist", and "Measured" that showcases the band's ability to showcase technicality infused with brutal grove. The album was released online July 2012 ( BUY the album HERE: Asoceans.bandcamp.com).
While putting out their first album gave them local and online success in the underground metal world, tradgedy soon full upon the band when one of the founding members, Wes Bryant, unexpectedly passed away. Wes was head sound engineer on Enough Light to Warrant The Contrast and is remembered fondly by the remaining members as a great friend and brother. Continuing forward in his honor the band released a music video for "Measured" (watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZ27SohBHNc) and in March 2013 released a split EP with fellow east coast up and comers, Wings Denied( BUY the EP HERE: Asoceans.bandcamp.com). After touring at the beginning of 2013 as a 4 piece the band started looking for a second guitar player. Having big shoes to fill the band looked close to home and brought in, Pat Tarpey. His previous endeavor, Dreaming in Color had been close friends and big brothers to As Oceans since the beginning so the decision was almost with out question.
March 2013 As Oceans returns to the studio to track their second full length album which promises to expand on the sound that they've already engraved in their fans heads while introducing new elements to what AO has to offer.
