KLONE was founded in Poitiers, France. The core of the band (David on vocals, Guillaume on guitars, Julien on bass and Laurent on drums) had met in 1995 and were still looking for their own musical identity when, in 1999, Mika (guitar) and Matthieu Metzger (wind midi controller & samples) joined the fold. From this date on, the band have devoted themselves to songwriting. For the next four years, they worked on finding their own sound, developing a very personal style. Of course the basis of their work is influenced by many artists, including MESHUGGAH, PORCUPINE TREE, CORONER, DEVIN TOWNSEND, OPETH, TOOL, ISIS, APHEX TWIN, BJÖRK and NEUROSIS which are strongly echoed.
Through their music, KLONE convey strong feelings of oppression, anger and fear, but without leaving out serenity and plenitude. At the crossroads of all these emotions, the meticulous work of the six musicians gave birth to a music which synthesized each of their individual tastes and personalities – the "Duplicate" album, released in 2003 on Musicast. Mixed by Ivan Herceg (alias Jordan Master) and mastered by Jean-Pierre Bouquet (WATCHA, LOFOFORA, TRIPOD, etc.) at L'Autre Studio, this debut was free from any conventionality and really experimental.
In 2004, the "High Blood Pressure" maxi came out, displaying KLONE's very own essence: permanently evolving: strong, heavy, melodic, atmospheric, hypnotic and always special. The band then toured with GOJIRA, ABORTED, PSYKUP, SCARVE, DEFDUMP, DROWNING, SLEEPERS, COMITY, EYELESS, STEREOTYPICAL WORKING CLASS and HERTZ AND SILENCE among others.
Now, after eight years of existence, KLONE have reached a personal and studied musical style and release a new inspired album with various influences: metal, heavy rock, stoner, grunge, pop, and psychedelic music. The band finds its identity in going deeper in the command of each musical style.
"All seeing Eye" holds well-orchestrated arrangements which are quite uncommon in metal, like the use of a harp, a saxophone, a Chinese flute and various electro tones. The result is an unusual blend of dark songs, deep and oppressive atmospheres, and progressive, melodic flights. The title track features GOJIRA's Joe Duplantier as guest vocalist.
The lyrics are in perfect symbiosis with the music, illustrating the "All seeing Eye" concept. A duel between the dominant and the dominated; the equilibrium between submission and domination. The disc evolves through feelings of threat, hope, self-confidence, anxiety and ends with a feeling of suddenness.
After working during four months on the production with Sylvain Biguet (TREPALIUM, COMITY, MISTAKEN ELEMENT) and J.P Bouquet again for the mastering, KLONE come back on the foreground and set off again for a tour across France and the world
