In early 2011, current members keith feulner and jared homant of the national band DISARRAY came across some time off as founding member and metal legend Chuck Bonnett III was on tour with a booming side project of his. we decided to just jam some fun stuff in the mean time to keep chops up. the theory was to combine the aspects of thrash, hardcore, and tech metal that we love, and just have fun with it. it was a strange trip trying to find a guitarist that had the tone and style we had planned. that is until jared introduced Tommy Clabough. tommy is a classical influenced giutarist and influenced with the likes of vai, satriani, and sculnick. T.C. had introduced a whole new level of playing to us that forced everyone to step up to the plate. although still in the early stages of writing, there are 6 songs in pre production and ended up in a melodic tech/prog metal genre with some fusion aspects without loosing the groove we are known for. All have many influences showing like slayer, exodus, dream theater, origin, satriani, and vai, periphery, opeth, hatebreed, pro-pain and most N.Y.H.C.
-keith feulner, drummer, was born and raised on long island, n.y. in the n.y.h.c. and thrash scene era. schooled by the long island drum centers david lee and local legend jeff barlow. these all reinforced the groove in every song and how to get a riff to move. most influence came from a texas band intoduced as a child by cousin richard nardone sometime around the mid to late 80s called watchtower. although growing up with players like brendon cohen from vision of disorder/bloodsimple from the 3rd grade, and all the hard hitting groove of the hardcore and thrash scene, watchtower invoked a technical aspect to playing not heard in bands before. after leaving the l.i.n.y. metal legends Overdrive around 1996 and moving to the knoxville area, keith joined the nashville based band Disarray on eclipse records and nrvd records. keith, on a side note, has been seen well over a 2.3 million views in videos like Big Smo-kickin it in tennesse official video, live moccasin creek project tour and "Aloud to be Loud" videos(with bassist jared homant), live Disarray show dvds, and many online drum clinics, instruction and solo videos. still an active member today, Disarray is writing the 5th full album. Keith is a founding member of WarClown. He proudly uses pdp/dw drums, sabian or mienl cymbals, endorses Silverfox jx sticks, iron cobra pedals, danmar redwood beaters, rocNsoc seat, evans heads, alesis drum module, roland/ddrum triggers, shure/cad/audix mics, and behringer processors.
-tommy clabough, guitarist, .....well, lets just say there would be no WarClown without the twist of fate that brought him by one day to jam. the direction was very clear where we were going with the new band the second tommy played. "i, for one, put my sticks down in awe hearing tommy just warm up. he was everything you could want in a guitarist!" drummer keith feulner explains. tommy has studied classical, spanish, flamenco, and still loves the greats like death, metallica(early), yngwie, petrucci, megadeth, slayer, and still lists mozart, beethoven, bach and more as influencial with that. and it shows! TC can shred the sickest death metal while next bar throwing soulful melodic runs and sweeps with almost effortless movement. tommy is a native of blount county. has been through a few bands in the area such variance, 3randomwords, bloodlord, dv8, feed, omega rage, and mortified death, only now to be able to come out of the shell they threw over him to let all thought out riffs and notes fly with avengence. several WarClown songs are based on or from demos that tommy and friend/drummer rico moya had previously recorded. Tommys guitar of choice is Fernendes Vortex V guitars and runs Peavey JSX and XXX heads through Mesa straight and slant Recto cabs
Brad Paker, vocalist, is a former member of the Regional band DownSlave and brings the stage show and energy to another level. Brad Parkers credential list is impressive as well opening for bands like DevilDriver, STEMM, and most recently doing an arena opener for Megadeth! Brads understanding of our music and writing process compliments the instruments well adding the power and flow we look for. We are proud to have him on board.
Brian (Fuzz) Gibbs, guitars, has been in the industry for some time fronting the death metal band Awake The Suffering on guitars and lead vocals. Fuzz brings another level to WarClown with his background in fast death metal, but also love for the heaviness in bands like Black Sabbath, Crowbar, Amon Amarth, this all contributes to many different layers in our music. His background vocals move earth with the low growls he can accomplish. Fuzz also plays a V guitar but through a Blue Vodoo head, Peavey and Crate cabs that are the midrange bite to our live show.
Eric Annable, Bassist, comes to us from the Chicagoland area and has been in a few metal/death bands that have toured a huge portion of the u.s.. He lists influences such as Geezer Butler, Steve Harris, and some Steve Digorgio. Eric plays Fretless basses through Gallien Krueger amps and cabs. Eric is very talanted and easy going and brings a great vibe on and off stage.
