Formed in 2008 under the somwhat ridiculous name Plan 9, the band has undergone significant line-up and name changes until its final and current incarnation. Formed by drummer Jamie Wright and guitarist Mark Sneddon (the only 2 remaining members from the original line-up), the band spent its first year in turmoil, struggling without a consistant vocalist or bassist and hit rock bottom with the tragic death of our friend and bandmate Scott Thomas Wilson (1991-2009). A brilliantly talented musician, Scott was the bands keyboardist, although he was also a gifted vocalist, bassist, drummer and flute player. He is sadly missed. The bands next 2 years were equally frustrating with members either leaving due to commitment issues or being sacked. Eventually, under its current guise of William Treeby, Mark Sneddon, Jamie Robb and Jamie Wright, AmberKast is rocking on!!!
Blending a wide range of influences from blues, garage, acid rock, punk, metal, indie, grunge and classical rock, AmberKast exudes a mixture of minimalistic and complex compositions characterised by powerful vocals, scorching guitar work, pounding basslines and thundering drum beats as well as delivering a more raw and abrasive take on music revealing it's members own personal reactions against conventional styles.
