Tyler Matthew Burton, better known by his stage name "Maven" is an African American neo-soul/r&b artist. Maven was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, April 13, 1989, to Evangelist Darren and Robyn Murray. Maven is the oldest of two children, his sister SaRai is also a talented singer/songwriter who provides background vocals as well as co-writes with Maven. At the age of 12, his family moved to Texas, where they remain today. Maven attended Clear Creek High School, where he excelled in academics, becoming a Texas Scholar and member of the National Honor Society. Since graduating in 2007, he has attended San Jacinto Community College, the University of Utah ( Go UTES)! In 2009, at the age of 19, Maven, his cousins Marlon (a.k.a. MD), Sean B Cowart, and Brandon Burton formed a Hip-Hop/RnB group by the name of "Timeless." Together the 4 of them created local hits like (It's Over, Let You Go, You and Me, Release Me...etc.) His musical influences range from Jay Z, Kanye West, Muddy Waters, John Legend, and Sam Cooke to The Weeknd and Trey Songz. Maven got his name from the Kanye West song "amazing" and the word is a Yiddish term meaning; an "expert" usually self appointed. Maven's debut EP "If Tomorrow Never Comes" is set to be released fall 2012.
