Joshua Polk / Bio

Joshua Polk is a rock & roll songwriter who is well established in the Baton Rouge
music scene. He enjoys experimenting with different
methods of recording to get the desired sound and feel -- using an old school tape
recorder to grab the drum track, for example. Polk also believes in the power of
memorable melodies, and as such is influenced by songwriters like Robert Pollard
(Guided by Voices) and Paul McCartney. To date he has released four solo albums.

Polk was front man for The Kenmores, a popular punk rock band who played shows
in Baton Rouge and toured the southeastern U.S. He also spent time in Los Angeles
playing guitar and touring with shoegaze rock band Run Run Run, opening for well-
known bands such as The Silversun Pickups.

Currently, Polk is working on a new solo record, fast on the heels of his recent
release, Beauty School Dropouts, which was released in April. His next album, yet
to be titled, is due to be released August 1st. Also in the works is a split with a local
favorite, Children’s Church. His immediate goal is to continue releasing multiple
albums per year and to continue playing live shows every couple months, allowing
him to share his passion with as many people as possible.
