In an age of mass media driven overnight successes, Halfway to Hollywood are paying their dues the old fashioned way. Having completed 5 Canadian tours in just over a year, this ambitious young three-piece are building a grassroots following the old fashioned way. Yes they use Social Media too. With over 10,000 followers on Twitter, and over 5700 Likes on FB their profile is sizeable on all social media. But how they use these outlets is what really sets them apart. “We make a point of reaching out to, and talking with, every single one of our fans”. “Even if it’s just a brief ‘Hi, how are you?’ it opens up a dialogue between artist and fan that has been a big part of our early success.” says Brenden White.
It’s hard to argue that the Vancouver-based trio isn’t making a splash in the Canadian music scene. “Quality song writing is the foundation we built our band on” says Grant Walker. With over 7,500 digital singles and 500+ copies of their debut EP sold so far plus important festival appearances alongside acts like Down With Webster and Victoria Duffield under their belt,
their ep was recorded with producer and drummer of ̈Default ̈ Danny Craig. “He really helped us up our game and take it to that next level.” says Roman Zugarazo. The songs on our current EP are the best we’ve ever written and we look forward to recording an album in 2014.
The band’s current single “Unbelievable” has had local success at radio. winning the “Spin-off” competition on Vancouver’s SONIC 104.9 FM , beating out major international acts. This earned the band a spot in the station coveted “Hall of Fame”, the first unsigned artist to do so.
