Jasmine Sage is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist living in New York. Sage's powerful contralto voice has been compared to Grace Slick and Florence Welch, and her stage presence called "otherly". Sage grew up in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State with her aunt and uncle in a recording room lined with three walls of vinyl records from her uncle's career as a DJ at a local classic rock station. After school, Sage and friends would ride motorbikes through the mountains and listen to records from the sixties. Her staple initial inspirations were The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Iron Butterfly. Upon seeing the guitar documentary "It Might Get Loud" starring Jimmy Page and Jack White at a Seattle theatre in October 2009, Sage immediately began writing her debut album and wrote 22 songs in the week following, playing all instruments on self-recorded demos in her living room. After three years of writing 300 songs, Sage traveled to Los Angeles to record her first two singles with Cold War Kids' Producer Matt Wignall in 2012. In 2013 she released the debut singles with music videos, an EP of remixes and is scheduled to release her debut full length this autumn. Sage is also a model, her lips being featured on HBO's True Blood, and is endorsed by the philanthropic apparel company Bydfault. She will be playing CMJ 2013 in New York.
