Kaileigh Bullard was three years old when she first sang in front of an audience of 300 people. The song was her state anthem, “Oklahoma!” and everyone was surprised at how comfortable such a little girl could be onstage. From that day forward, the stage became her second home. Now living in Nashville, TN, this 23-year-old singer/songwriter released her self-titled, six song debut EP in July 2012. A recent Summa Cum Laude graduate of Belmont University, Kaileigh is also the acoustic guitarist and background vocalist for Hayden Panettiere’s character, Juliette Barnes, in the #1 Wednesday night drama, Nashville, which airs on ABC. Part of eleven episodes in the first season, Kaileigh and the other band members are currently filming for Season 2, which airs beginning September 25, 2013.
Kaileigh began doing tap, jazz, and ballet at the age of 4, clogging and playing piano at the age of 5, playing fiddle at the age of 8, and playing the guitar at the age of 12. Growing up in Oklahoma, she had many opportunities to use these gifts to do what she loved- perform for others. Although always a shy, quiet girl off stage, no one would have known that by watching her light up the stage.
Over the years, Kaileigh has had the chance to open for country music artists Ronnie Milsap, Ray Price, Kitty Wells, Hank Thompson, and Toby Keith, as well as perform for two summers at Northeastern State University's Downtown Country with fellow Oklahoman, Carrie Underwood.
In July of 2008, she and her family packed up and left their small town in Oklahoma, moving to Nashville so she could attend Belmont University and pursue her dreams of becoming a country music recording artist. Being the first of their entire family to move out of Oklahoma, it was difficult to leave everything they had ever known. Even so, Kaileigh and her family have enjoyed this new chapter of their lives and feel truly blessed to be here. She is also a songwriter and released her debut EP in July 2012. She continues to write and record with songwriters around Nashville. She also teaches fiddle and is actively involved with the music at her church.
Kaileigh believes the Lord has provided her with gifts that are meant to be used for His glory. Matthew 5:16 says, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven." She hopes through her music and through her life that others might be able to see Him and praise His holy name.
