What started out as an alt-country, bluegrass duo has morphed into a unique five-piece that blends original material with covers of everything from Gillian Welch and Little Feat to Radiohead and Prince. Jada Salmons’ vocals are chameleon - evoking joy, energy, reflection and a little heartache. Band founder David Luther provides original songs, rhythm guitar, and some tasty blues harp. Marshall Crossnoe brings both riffs and a deft touch on guitar. Allen Brenner delivers the thump with the doghouse bass. The rhythm of the cajon (a wood box percussion instrument) and the djembe is laid out by Bob "Beat Doctor" Steffes.
2 Car Pile-Up can bring the full show or be a laid-back soundtrack. They’ve performed at music clubs where they were the focus of the night, and they’ve play bars, wineries, and parties where they provide a great sound that allows for conversation. While the group doesn’t bill itself as a dance band, it’s common for folks to get up and shake it when they play.
