My name is Steve Sutherby. I live in Sebastopol CA. just north of SanFrancisco. I have been playing for over 30 years and have a degree in Music from UMass where I studied classical music. Originally from Medford MA, right outside of Boston, I grew up listening to, and playing all the local favorites, Aerosmith, J Geils, Boston, Etc. I had the pleasure of opening up for Extreme on many occasion, before they hit the big time. I have been in many bands since then, there, in SF,in Kansas City,( playing with variations of The Joey Skidmore Band), Flagstaff and Sedona. I have been in Sonoma County for the last 10 years or so ,teaching and playing.
As far as influences, the most prominent would be Hendrix/ SRV/Gilmore/Satriani/Santana/Page/ Clapton/Stones/Van Halen, I am also influenced by heavier stuff such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Metallica, Sabbath, Judas Preist, Etc.
As far as my playing style, I strive for more melodic and soulful blues voicings, than fast and furious, although if the song calls for it I am more than happy to oblige!
