Sterling Koch is an internationally recognized lap steel guitarist. The Sterling Koch Band is a 4 piece classic blues-rock band from Pottsville, PA featuring Sterling's soaring lap steel guitar with Sean Anderson on second guitar and the powerhouse rhythm section of Gene Babula (bass) and John Goba (drums). The band was formed for the purpose of touring in support of Sterling’s recent solo album release “Slide Ruler” which Sterling recorded with legendary blues bassist Tommy Shannon (Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan) and Grammy nominated drummer Chet McCracken (Doobie Brothers). The band performs a solid mix of classic-rocking, blues/rock music containing both original and cover songs featuring the soaring, slide guitar sounds of Sterling’s lap steel guitar.
Sterling has performed at many nationally known venues including The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways and Cornelia Street Café (all in New York City), the well known blues nightclubs Stanhope House and Bubba Mac’s Blues Shack (both in New Jersey) as well as outdoor events including Daytona Bike Week 2005, several Harley-Davidson Open Houses, Gathering Of The Tribes and more. He has released 4 solo CDs including “Slide Ruler,” “Steel Guitar Blues,” “Steelin’ Home” and “How I Spent My Summer Vacation.”
