Bruit takes their name from the French word for “noise” or “rumor". Bruit plays jazz, blues, folk, pop, and rock standards with a vibrant and energetic acoustic touch, often infusing pop and rock tunes with a jazzier edge.
Bruit is comprised of former UMBC music students who share a love for performing some of the best songs ever written and in a style all their own. Each member has performed with various acts in the Baltimore/DC area.
Jacqueline Morgia is a vocalist and percussionist who studied Music at UMBC as a Linehan Artist Scholar. She has been performing for 24 years. Her sultry vocal stylings convey a unique and genuine approach to renditions of classic tunes.
Eric Brightfield began playing guitar at the age of 14, but you'd think he was born with it in his hand. He has degrees in Guitar Performance and Composition from UMBC as a Linehan Artist Scholar. His style of playing is eclectic, to say the least; always imaginative and exuberant.
Joe Martone has been playing the bass for 15 years. He holds a degree and post-grad certificate in Composition from UMBC. His playing maintains the groups forward drive yet remains soulful and expressive.
