I am 48 years old and I have composed electronic music for almost 30 years. I bought my first synthesizer in the autum 1982. It was a monophonic synthesizer named Kawai. I was very impressed by the ability to create sounds from this simple synthesizer. The first year I created sounds and build music from the sounds. This was the beginning of a great passion for electronic music.
In 1984 I bought the newly released Yamaha DX7. I learned to program the DX7 and explore the possibilities with digital FM-syntesis. I am still using that wonderfull machine and the DX7 is still the base instrument in my music and I will never stop using it.
I spend much time learning each piece of equipment I use. That way I can get the must of it. In my opinion there is no bad equipment only bad users.
