Highway Lights is a five piece band that originated in the suburbs of Toronto in late 2010. To be described solely as a rock band would be selling this band’s melodic and unique sound short. Although rock is their primary genre, fans and critics alike have agreed that Highway Lights’ sound is in a sub genre of their own.
Their sound boasts three powerful guitars, groovy bass lines and diverse drum rhythms that help shape their sound which not only differentiates themselves from other rock bands, but is shown from song to song in their catalogue. Highway Lights focuses on patient climactic builds and creates their music with a versatility that is constantly changing pace, yet is always identifiably Highway Lights.
Lyrically, Highway Lights’ songs theme around the struggles of everyday life highlighting the trials and tribulations of relationships audiences can identify with. Highway Lights writing style is a complete package, pairing these real and relatable stories with their elevating melodic style.
Highway Lights’ debut EP "Go" was released in December of 2012 and undoubtedly showed their diverse style and depth. Their two singles “Run with me” and “Disappear” have been received with high praises and earned regular playing time on stations such as Outcast Radio, HOOAH! Radio, Mediazoic and MusicLynk Radio.
