Boston Rapper Koma came into the game with a go-getter mindset. Born in Jamaica and raised in Boston, he says he's always been into music. "I used to listen to the radio and when ever I heard a song I liked, I would challenge myself to have it memorized by the fifth time I heard it ". With obvious dedication to what he does, he says his mother is one of his biggest inspirations; seeing how hard she worked for the people she loved blew him away and every time he writes, she's his inspiration and he will continue to make his mother proud.
Koma says his biggest musical influences have been Eminem, Jay-Z, Bob Marley, and Michael Jackson. On his list of hot artists to work with he names Meek Mill, Mac Miller, and Roscoe Dash and as well as other Local Boston artists Moufy (Shout out to #SG), Dutch Rebelle (#FN), Ace Major, INTL Show, Lee Boy, just to name a few. "I wanna work with every talented individual in this city. Boston is on the come up."
I asked him how he planned to make it big. With so many new artists making their way to the top it's becoming a bit of a struggle for everyone to be in the spotlight . Koma replied by saying that God has a specific plan for him so regardless of what happens he will thank the big man for the opportunity he was given. He puts his all into making music, and if it wasn't for his friends (Shout out to MasEnt team), he probably wouldn't be doing what he does today. Koma says he'll continue to make good music, pushing and networking like there's no tomorrow, and be the humble person he is and people like.
What advice does he have to new-comers? "My advice for anybody coming up is to study your craft," He also stressed that everyone should be there own person, and no one should settle for what everyone else is being,"If you are being you, can't nobody tell you nothing. Last thing is stay humble."
Koma is currently working on "Industry Music", a MasEnt compilation, and Komatosed Vol. 1 which will be his very first solo mixtape, which he hopes ya'll look out for. You can also follow him on twitter : @itsKOMA.
