As a young man I was drawn to outlaw country music and the "Man In Black", Johnny Cash. The boom-chica-boom sound that he founded is a staple in many of my original tunes. "Singer of Songs", written by Tim O'Connell and recorded by Johnny Cash, was the song played at Johnny Cash's funeral. What an honor it is that Tim also asked me to record it too!
My earliest musical memories are of my Grandpa, Jim Akins (Jim Akins & The Travelin' Texans) playing and singing for me. His influence is in my songs with the traditional style of traditional country music that I bear. How I would love to sit on his front porch swinging and singing with him today.
Thanks for giving my music a listen, I genuinely appreciate it. I write and record out of pure passion for the music, not from seeking the spotlight, but only your ears so turn up the sound and let's escape back in time. - Daniel
