Big Lucious, aka Billy Ray Scott Jr, has been involved in Memphis music for over 23 years. He has been involved in many bands, and has also been a solo act. Big Lucious is a great singer/songwritter, as well as a surperb front man with a strong soulful voice. He is a funk/punk bassist and a wicked rhythmn guitarist. He plays some mean slide guitar and a rocking mandolin picker, too. He is no John Popper but he can blow some down home blues harp. He has been a promoter and ran his own booking agency at one time. His bands include: The Heathens, Gertrude Zundies, 735 Band, The Andrew Cabigao Band, Heethans, The Hillbillie Twisterz, Southern Way, and Big Lucious. Big Lucious lives by this philosophy, "Life is like a bowl of jello and when it jiggles you just got to hang on!"
Brad his been BLOWING UP! The Memphis Music Scene! for about 11 years now. He is a great songwriter with an amazing vocal range. Brads vocals are soulful and lay'd back, but that doesn't mean he can't get down on it when needed. YES! YES! YES! he can belt it out "believe that fosho", and without lossing any of that soul. Brad's songwriting is fresh and outside of the box. His mastery of lyrics and chord progressions, which have a southern flavor, mixed up with some bumping beats, are without a doubt mind blowing. Brad, like a lot of us are chasing that "NEON RAINBOW", but must still play the bills. So by day he is a Certified HVAC systems technician, and by night he's out around town putin' his thang down for your entertainment. Brad his performed as a solo act and also with bands. Here are just a few of the bands he his fronted: Niches From Falling, Jaded Black, and currently Memphis based band BiG LUsCiOUs!!
Mark "KEYz" Bates>VOCALs/SONGWRITER/KEYBOARD**
Mark Bates,(AKA)>Mark "KEYz, the amazing keyboardist for Big Luscious was born(12/5/66) and was raised in Memphis Tn. Mark was introduced to the piano by his mom(Mary) and his dad(Homer) at the young age of nine. HE WAS HOOK'D! After high school, Mark joined the Marine Corp in 1985 and dedicated after 10 years of great service to his country. Mark soon purchased his first keyboard/synthesizer in 1991 and started developing his own sound and style.Mark enjoys playing 80s, 90s style music also some newer tunes. When Mark isn't playing the keys, he wears lots of hats as a police officer, hvac systems technician, a dad, a songwriter etc. Mark "KEYz" Bates is currently rockin' the house nightly as the killer vocalist/keyboardist for the Memphis based band BiG LUsCiOUs!!
Hollis has been playing drums and guitar for about 27 years. Although drums were the main instrument for many years, a passion for guitar and melody were always smoldering quietly beneath the surface. Having roots deeply embedding in the rhythm aspect of music, Hollis’ guitar playing is all about nuance, subtlety, and class. Influences span many genres, most notably country chicken-pickin’ and 80’s and 90’s rock, with a sprinkling of blues roots.
Hollis is also an accomplished vocalist. He started singing in church at an early age, and currently studies at The Academy of Modern Voice under world renowned vocal coach Marc Francis. Hollis is currently rock it with Memphis based band BiG LUsCiOUs!!
Kramer "BEATBOX" Bates>VOCALs/DRUMMER
Kramer was introduced to the drums by his dad when he was in the 8th grade. He sold the set after about a year. That could have very well been it for Kramer. However, thanks to his dad & his good friend Matt he picked up the sticks again. This only was about 10 months ago!!! WOW! In my opinion and the words of Kramer himself that was a really great decision. He could have fooled me because, he plays as if he has been at it non-stop for years. Kramer's favorite tuneage is 90s alternative also he's into 60s, 70s, and 80s rock. He down with sum OL' SCHOOL HIP HOP AS WELL. Kramer's druming style is just right for BiG LUsCiOUs.
