The AJ Ghent Band, lead by AJ Ghent is a newly formed band with years of combined musical experience. The band launched in August 2012, and has been taking a steady pace to genuinely connect with fans. AJ comes from a family history of what is known as "Sacred Steel" which was virtually created by his Great Uncle Wille Eason, his Grandfather Henry Nelson, and his father, Aubrey Ghent Sr. AJ plays a custom made 8 String Lap Steel Guitar that's his favorite color, Red. AJ's musical methods are non traditional and his influence comes from the legacy that was passed on to him by his forefathers. He brings both hands over the guitar and plays while standing. AJ dares to be different and puts every ounce of energy he has into every performance.
The band consists of AJ Ghent (lead vocalist/lap steel guitar), his wife MarLa Ghent (vocals/percussion), his sister, Tiffany Ghent Belle (vocals/percussion) Will Groth (drums), Gary Paulo (saxaphone/rhythm guitar), and Seth Watters (bass guitar). The band has been featured in publications such as the Atlanta Backstage Beat, and the March 2013 edition of the Georgia Trend Magazine.
Recently, Zac Brown's Southern Ground Records became the home for AJ Ghent. The band has since then joined Zac Brown on tour, and have played in places such as the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA, and other arenas across the West Coast.
