George Hartner was schooled in the classics from an early age. In fact his first memories were watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show and from there he was hooked. He started writing songs at 16 and he ended up collaborating on a song called “There For Her” with Glenn Tilbrook from the British band Squeeze (“Tempted”, “Black Coffee in Bed”, “Cool for Cats”). He has written over 500 songs and one of those called “War” was used to promote the book, Shade it Black by Jessica Goodell and John Hearn about the Iraq War. Another song called, “A Little Peace” was recognized by American Songwriter magazine.
Hartner lives in Wilmington, NC and continues to write and record. Two of his latest songs, “The Only Thing That’s Right” and “Pelican Tree Hotel” can be found here.
