Kenta Shimokuni / Bio

Kenta Shimokuni is a Musician/Bassist(4strings,5strings, occasionally 6strings). He was born in 1982 and grew up in Saitama and Hokkaido Japan, after picking up the bass at the age of 16 and he has played music at various music venues specializing in Blues, Progressive Rock, and Pop.

Kenta had a private instructor in Japan named Koji Tsumoto who was considered the best rock guitarist at Berklee in 1997. Kenta studied 4strings bass(used to play 6strings bass) and music theory from him since 2005 to 2010. After that, he moved to Pasadena California to attend the LA Music Academy and studies Blues, Jazz, Rock, Funk, Rhythm Sudies, Fretless bass, Bass Technique and World Bass. And he graduated with degree.

Kenta's instructors at the academy are Jerry Wats Jr, Andre Berry, Steve Billman, Mark Browne, Philip Bynoe, Joey Heredia, Tim Landers, David Levray and Doug Ross.
He also has the opportunity to play with Ralph Hamfry Tony Inzalaco, Bill Fowler, Sam Mazur, Brad Rabuchin, Art Renshaw and Ken Song. Kenta sometimes plays bass as a ensemble player in the other department classes. He has worked with many musicians. Kenta is available for gigging, recoding, nearly every musical situation.
