Ford the River is the culmination of many years of songwriting and musical experimentation, a process that spanned several band names and members before becoming a five-piece rock group based in Oklahoma City. With a style influenced by many different genres and generations, Ford the River produces a unique pop/rock, ‘retrofuture’ sound experience incorporating drums, guitar, bass, and synth in a blend of classic rock, synth pop, and pure unfiltered energy.
Founding members Josh Sohn (vox, keys) and Erick Castille (vox, guitar) and good friends Derek Box (drums), Ben Wheeler (bass) and Lauren Westlake (vox) met while attending college together in Oklahoma. After parting ways post graduation to pursue separate careers as actors and musicians, Josh and Erick found themselves in New York City writing what would become the band’s first songs. Too poor to afford equipment and fighting to keep the music alive, they moved back to Oklahoma City, uniting all the current band members. Ford the River built a makeshift studio and rehearsal space in the garage of their shared rental house. Utilizing an assortment of pawn shop electronics and a Macbook Pro, the band home produced their first recordings. Ford the River gigs frequently in the Oklahoma City region and is planning upcoming regional and national tours.
