The Corner / Bio

The Corner released their debut EP (mastered by John Drew {Fucked Up, Tokyo Police Club}) in January 2012 and have quickly become busy after being "Band of the Month" on the Edge Supernova's online poll and packing Lee's Palace for the birth of their self-titled, 5 song album.
"Its gritty and big as hell" mentions Alan Cross in a recent review of the song "Bitter"

Shortly after the EP release, the band played opening night of CMW 2012 at the El Mocambo and went on to headline on Saturday night of the festival at The Mod Club.
The Corner signed to the new, Toronto, indie label Sonic Envy in late 2012
In February 2013 they will begin work on their first full-length record at Breakglass Studios, Montreal with acclaimed producer Jace Lasek of The Besnard Lakes.

In addition to the raw simplicity typical to local indie rock, this Toronto-based band of four curates carefully produced, multidimensional compositions reminiscent of early Radiohead.

"They turned the crazy, tank-topped hair-dancers [and others] into dimly lit figures, as they swayed and nodded to the sincere raw sound that [The Corner] brought to the show." Elena Maystruk -Lithium Magazine

Drawing from an unusually diverse list of influences including Nirvana, Jeff Buckley, The Cure, Bowie, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National and Soundgarden, members Mark Anderson (Guitars), Laurie Wilson (Bass), Calvin Castellino (Drums), and Matthew Oh (Keys, Vocals) have pulled together a clean yet intricately layered sound that emphasizes qualities of several subgenres like indie rock, grunge, alternative, pop, and ambient rock, satisfying a wide range of musical tastes.
