South Carolina native Joel Turner is one of country music’s hottest new singer/songwriters, but his journey to Nashville, TN was a little different than most country artists. He didn’t grow up listening to Hank or Haggard or Jones, he didn’t have a musical family that taught him to play guitar and sing at an early age, he never played in bands back in his hometown of Gaffney, S.C. and he didn’t grow up with the dream of one day being a country music star. He would always sing in the shower or driving around in his pickup but he never sang in front of people. Until one day a buddy of his was in the pickup with him and heard him sing. That friend told him he should pursue a career in music. Joel just laughed it off and said he didn’t want to be a singer. But a break up from a long time girlfriend tore his world apart and changed the course of history for this talented young man. In 2007 he gave up a very successful lawn care business, packed up is old pickup and pointed it west toward Music City, USA. In the years since arriving in Nashville, he has honed his guitar playing and songwriting skills and in 2010, Joel signed a publishing deal with George Strait's nephew Trey Strait. It won’t be long until you’ll be hearing a lot from rising star Joel Turner.
