Garrett has displayed his creative versatility by writing and producing across a broad range of genres including Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Gospel, and Contemporary Jazz. As a bass guitarist, Alvin “Cornbread” Garrett has performed the role of musical director for Ruben Studdard since 2003, and has toured with him extensively throughout the country. He also played bass with the American Idol 2 Tour in the Summer of 2003. As a session musician, he’s recorded live with many Gospel, RnB, azz, and alternative artists.
Underneath all his creative talent lies a razor-sharp mind with a keen understanding of business, marketing, and management. After graduating from Samford University with a Business Management Degree in 2000, Alvin worked in corporate America for a few years. After building his music business on the side, he decided to make the transition and pursue his dreams whole-heartedly. His decision to leave the corporate world proved to be a good one, but his experience in the world of business laid a solid foundation for his current and progressive success.
