Yancy & Yancy sing full throated harmonies that emerge from souls with deep southern family roots. Both are native Alabamians and now call Memphis home. They are joined by a band of gifted musicians who met at Visible Music College in Memphis. Alt Country,Neo folk, blues, bluegrass and gospel can all be found in their music swirling around with distinctive vocal delivery. Both of them singer/songwriters, they bring to the stage the southern knack for storytelling and hospitality. Believing that the oral arts must be preserved they have hosted several "Storytelling" parties as well as hosted house concerts and perform at House Concerts. Their musical storytelling includes tales about an Appalacian ghost , the story of a grandmother's words to her grandson, and the story of a church on Sand Mountain called the Rock House.
Yancy & Yancy have performed their own blend of music together for over a decade, performing in such venues as Folk Alliance International 2012, The Memphis Zoo, The Ruffin Theater in Covington, The Memphis Farmer’s Market, Trolley Nights, The Center for Southern Folk Lore, The River Arts Festival, Hard Rock Cafe Memphis, Otherlands, Levitt Shell and various festivals in the greater Memphis area. It is "grown-up Folk for grown-up folk".
