In Late 2011 Guitarist/singer song writer George Petrus formed Three Points of Madness to create and express a musical vision that more aptly captured his diverse style of songwriting as well as to keep him busy while the past band he was in, Octopus Triangle, was on hiatus, but since then it has become and evolved into so much more.
Octopus Triangle eventually broke up. Ron Pacheco Jr., a home grown veteran to the local music scene, and once Bassist of Octopus Triangle, joined forces with George and Original co-founding member/Drummer, John Moffa. Three Points of Madness then became a new animal and force to be reckoned with, reminiscent of the power trio structure of bands like Cream and Rush.
The raw rock sound that the band creates hearkens back to the nascent days of classic rock as well as the Metal hey days, while still appealing to modern listeners. By sticking to a classic song-writing approach, reminiscent of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden and by using vintage as well as modern guitar sounds; the band creates its own brand of music.
John Moffa blasted away on drums for the first year of tracking and live performances but had to leave the band not long after the group's debut release due to health and personal issues. Now taking the helm is Veteran drummer Zac Ethier. Zac has spent two years in Hemlok rocking all over new England and recently joined the band.
George uses an arsenal of effect pedals for his sounds. A modulation manic creating atmospheric fuzz and orgasmic overdrive mixed with pristine clean passages. Blending his turbulent past as fuel for his writing and singing he is able to reach deep into the soul.
Ron's collection of exotic custom bass guitars that range from fretted to fretless instruments and from 4,-9 and 12 strings, create a very original style of playing, writing, and composing. From sub low bass tones to technical melodic passages and double hand tapping bass lines, he brings more to the band's sound and compositions than they average bass player.
zac is just as much about the groove as he is about adding color and dynamics to a song. His drumming is solid and dependable, yet he is not afraid to think out side of the box and to be adventurous. The pitch or sound of each drum, each cymbal and or percussive piece has its rightful place as does each beat and pulse.
Dave McNally (piano-melotron-fender rhodes-B-3 organ) then adds the finishing touches in the studio with his keyboard magic.
Three Points of Madness brings energy, passion and dedication to their song writing and recording right down to their live performances and has something for everyone who is a fan of rock in all of its forms. So come, enjoy.... the Three Points of Madness!
