ROBERT NANCE - BASSIST
( Brandon Dyke - guitar , Tony Christopher - drums)
Robert has played both upright and electric bass professionally for over 35 years. He has toured much of the United States as well as parts of Canada and Europe. For a number of years he sailed the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera as a bassist and orchestra leader for a major cruise line.
Robert has covered styles ranging from big band jazz to rock and fusion, classical to Broadway show music, contemporary Christian to old time mountain music as well as everything in between.
He has appeared with such artists as pioneer Christian blues/rock singer Darrell Mansfield, jazz pianist Frank Kimbrough, blues legend B.B. King and in a unique Gospel duo with his wife, Laura. In recent years, Robert was involved in a groundbreaking quartet which included Lithuanian classical and jazz pianist Gintautus (Gintas) Abarius, classical composer/conductor/multifaceted guitarist "non pareil" Ron Ravenscroft & drummist, music scientist and renowned "jazz pastor" Al Sergel.
Currently, Robert is active as a part of the worship team of "Fellowship Greenville" at 3161 S Highway 14 in Greenville S.C. and can also be found accompanying renowned Ecuadorian classical guitarist Rodrigo Rodriguez. Robert teaches private lessons for the fretless electric bass and is involved in several projects including a "classic" piano/bass jazz duo, the "uber" society/special occasion jazz quintet "Adagio 345", the exciting "Robert Nance Trio", the eclectic world music quartet "Trade Routes" and the "slow burn" jazz/rock ensemble "Ralabubamshu" featuring Jack King (guitars), Mike Andrews (keyboards) and Abdullah Rahman (drums & percussion).
