Cold River Rounders Old Time string band....knee-slapping toe-tapping Appalachian fiddle tunes!
Available for barn and square dances!
In the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, many miles from the nearest road, there is an inspiring place--The Cold River. A place that makes one forget about this busy world and its trends--an area some folks like to gather and play music.
With the sounds of fiddle, claw hammer banjo and mandolin over guitar and Stand-up bass, we play traditional music and though most are Old-Time tunes are from Appalachia, we also play a good amount of Irish and Scottish numbers, too.
Traditional music is a rendition of history. Many tunes we play were written during the civil war--numbers like General Lee, or Gun Boat for example. And scores of Irish and Scottish melodies are hundreds of years old. All of them still embody the same emotion they were written with and for, so long ago. We enjoy sharing the history and significance of many of the tunes as this helps one understand what the writer was trying to express and leads to a better appreciation.
